This was one of the many sporting events I covered working as a sports writer and photographer for the U.S. Army while stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga., from October 2003 to July 2005.
Working as part of the press has its perks. I was fortunate to attend the Masters Golf Tournament twice while stationed in Georgia.
Above is a photo of the crowds between holes, at the 2005 Masters Tournament. I never imagined I would ever be there covering such a well-known event. It was a great experience.
Soldiers take time out to unwind and get a little soccer action during off-duty hours at Fort Gordon, Ga.
Dependents of military personnel also got in the soccer action, above, competiting in age-appropriate games.
