This was a fun night. It was St. Patrick's Day 2008 in Downtown Nashville, Tenn. I was on a cross-country road-trip from Fort Lewis, Wash., to Florida. This was one of my many stops along the way. I walked around downtown. Enjoyed the sights. Also stopped into about three or four bars. Good times.

Visions Captured: Grasping a Moment of Life

Hello, my name is Armando. I am a photographer and have been since 2003 when I joined the U.S. Army. I spent five years as a public affairs specialist in the military. As a soldier I traveled to different places such as Japan and Iraq and was stationed on both coasts of the U.S.

As a PA specialist for the Army, I worked as a staff writer for a post news paper, delved into public relations, was sports editor for a base newspaper, and was a combat correspondent while serving 11 months in Iraq.

It was during my time in the Army that I discovered a passion for photography. After the military, I earned a B.F.A. in Photography from Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. Now, in addition to photojournalism, I use my photography skills to document life's special moments.
